The Balancing Act

Event Length: 60 minutes

Event Description: Just how does one achieve work-life balance in this time when multi-tasking and second (and even third) jobs are the norm? While there is no one right answer that fits everyone, there are strategies to get you closer to your own sense of balance. We begin by examining what’s not working and what balance would look like for you. From there we explore some approaches you can begin today to achieve more control and peace in your everyday life.

  • Assess levels of satisfaction with eight major life areas
  • Recognize common pitfalls in striving for balance

De-stressing Your Distress

Event Length: 60 minutes

Event Description:   Do the demands of work and life leave you feeling rushed, anxious or overwhelmed at times?  Learn the difference between good stress (yes, some stress can be positive!) and bad stress as well as its causes and symptoms.  Assess your current vulnerability to stress and identify areas where you can reduce your potential for feeling distress.  Recognize the ineffective de-stressors we sometimes use, and commit to practicing effective, proactive ways to avoid distress.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Differentiate between distress (bad) stress and eustress (good) stress
  • Identify the causes of stress so they can be avoided when possible
  • Recognize the signs of stress in yourself and others
  • Determine your current vulnerability to stress
  • Distinguish effective from ineffective de-stressors
  • Commit to taking action on at least one proactive de-stressor

Eating Well

Event Length: 60 minutes
